of Our Team!
10th Street Farm and Market located just east of the Twin Cities in Afton, MN is an extended season micro- farm using organic intensive growing practices with a diversified business model, allowing us to farm year around with minimal labor and land use. Our markets include a four season CSA, wholesale, and a farm stand.
Internship Program Details: We have 4 internship options this year, 3 long season (April-Nov, includes housing if needed for one) and a short season (June-Sept). These are entry-level programs combining hands-on training and skills-based education in micro-farming (farming on an acre or less) so that you will have the knowledge and experience to start your own agricultural project. You will learn by being involved with all aspects of a diversified organic-practicing vegetable farm, which includes succession planting for extended season, working with CSA and wholesale markets, high tunnel and greenhouse management as well as the processes and techniques we have intergraded into our farm making it as efficient and profitable as possible.
On completion, you will:
Have experience in the fundamentals of farming, marketing, and operating/managing a small business; have a working knowledge of movable high tunnels, greenhouse practices, and small farm tools to apply to a future venture; understand how to plan for a CSA and wholesale accounts year-round; experience with ‘lean-farm’ philosophies and intensive, sustainable farming practices.
Additional land is available for your own small agricultural project. Possible projects could be started that would complement our existing markets/customers or you could venture out on your own at a local farmer’s market.
